Department Overview

At the Knight Cardiovascular Institute, our experts are improving cardiovascular health and finding cures for cardiovascular disease through personalized care and research innovation.

Function/Duties of Position

As center of excellence, our collaborative approach to treat the whole patient includes providing behavioral health and psychiatric services to patients in both inpatient and ambulatory settings. You'll work alongside our dedicated team of Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant physicians, surgeons, VAD & Transplant coordinators, and dedicated team of APPs and clinical staff.

 

Primary responsibility is providing compassionate, trauma-informed care to Heart Transplant patients experiencing depression, anxiety and other pre-existing psychiatric disorders as they prepare and recover from their heart transplant.

Required Qualifications

  • MD or DO with active Oregon licensure at time of hire
  • Board Certification / Board Eligible (with planned certification) in Psychiatry
  • Active DEA license at time of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience providing psychiatric services to transplant populations in an inpatient setting
  • Prior experience or strong desire to work in academic medicine
