Department Overview

The salary of $15.45 per hour is effective July 1st, 2023, per Oregon law.

 

The OHSU School of Nursing in Klamath Falls is located on the Oregon Institute of Technology campus, which offers state-of-the art bachelor's degree programs in engineering, health and business technologies. Klamath Falls offers an outstanding array of natural and cultural wonders. Klamath Falls is 280 miles from Portland.

 

Peer Tutors are responsible for providing academic assistance to undergraduate students in select coursework. Tutoring is not teaching, but rather supplemental learning for students needing additional assistance with course content. The peer tutoring program at OHSU utilizes both group and one-on-one tutoring to assist students with course topics.

Function/Duties of Position

  • Exhibit professional behavior and adhere to confidentiality requirements
  • Review and abide by the Tutoring Code of Ethics
  • Work with students in both group and individual settings 
  • Have availability to meet with students for a minimum of 4 hours per week.
  • Coach students on study skills, note taking, organization, and time management. Coach students in clinical skills in the lab setting.
  • Communicate with professors regarding individual student needs and progress
  • Maintain records of tutoring activities including time keeping and tutoring note.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Current OHSU School of Nursing Student Undergraduate Junior or Senior level
  • Have successfully passed the course in which tutoring is occurring with at least a grade of a “A” or high “B”
  • Maintain an OHSU GPA of at least a 3.0
