OHSU’s Knight Cancer Institute, known as one of the pioneers in personalized cancer medicine, is an international leader in research and cancer treatment. Driven by its mission to end cancer as we know it, the institute is building upon its expertise in targeted treatments to advance the early detection of cancer when the disease is most treatable, and develop new therapies.
The Knight’s Center for Experimental Therapeutics (CET) has an opening for a Senior Research Associate (SRA) position. Experienced researchers with a PhD in Biology (Cell, molecular or Cancer biology) and at least five years of research experience in related field are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate should have a broad interest in cancer research, be willing to participate in a variety of projects, and be interested in establishing and maintaining collaborations.
Every Knight Cancer employee is expected to embody our guiding principles:
The translational research projects within CET leverage a multi-disciplinary approach in biology, chemistry, pharmacology, molecular modeling, and in vitro and patient-derived models to probe complex biological processes and to pursue therapeutic opportunities for novel protein targets. The Senior Research Associate will join the Center with the goal of understanding the molecular aspects of cancer, how tumor cells adapt to micro-environmental stimuli, and to develop and optimize targeted, personalized therapies for this disease. The SRA will be responsible for most of the planning, implementation, and data interpretation associated with their own research. Additionally, the SRA is expected to interact with graduate students and be actively involved in their scientific supervision and in the general research directions of the lab (both technically and intellectually). A critical aspect of this position is to establish and maintain collaborations by taking full advantage of the terrific network of labs offered within OHSU, as well as wide network of external CET collaborators.
