Function/Duties of Position

  • Clinical Activities:
    • The Generalist division provides both inpatient and outpatient care to high-risk patients at OHSU, as well as relatively low-risk community practice patients at Hillsboro Medical Center, an affiliated facility located 30 minutes west of OHSU, ensuring an ideal mix of patient cases.
    • At OHSU, Hospitalists deliver high-quality care on the inpatient labor and postpartum floors, working closely with MFM providers, OB/GYN Generalists, and OB/GYN residents. At our partner site, HMC, Hospitalists collaborate with midwives, Family Medicine providers, residents, and students.

    • Key responsibilities include managing antepartum, labor, and postpartum floors in settings with Level 3 and 4 NICUs depending on site. Duties also include evaluating and treating ED patients who present with reproductive health concerns.

    • The Hospitalist is responsible for an equitable share of obstetric call duties.

  • Scholarly Activities:

Assistant Professor faculty members are expected to participate in clinical research as needed, often with the help of trained research support staff and senior faculty principal investigators.
  • Education:
    • This position provides clinical education to fellows, residents, and medical students participating in Obstetrics and Gynecology rotations. The Assistant Professor may also help with clinical teaching of nurse and APP trainees.
