The Dental Assistant, under the supervision of a licensed dentist, provides chair side assistance to dentists, dental students, dental hygienist, or dental technicians. Some employees in this class may perform clerical duties such as appointment scheduling, billing, and maintaining patient records.

 

This position provides support to the predoctoral (DMD student) clinics.

 

Salary range for the Dental Assistant positions is $24.28-$27.92 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR DENTAL ASSISTANT:

  • Completion of an approved Dental Assistant training program OR
  • One year of experience as a chair side Dental Assistant
  • Certification by the Oregon State Board of Dentistry for Radiological Proficiency required for ALL positions (upload documentation with online application)
  • Current valid BLS card required, issued by the American Heart Association (upload documentation with online application)
  • Must have worked as a dental assistant within the last 5 years

Required Qualifications

The Dental Assistant-Advanced provides chair side assistance to specialty clinics including pediatric dentistry, periodontics, endodontics, orthodontics, oral & maxillofacial surgery, and faculty dental practices.  The clinics focus on providing excellence in patient care while training future leaders in the dental profession. Main job duties include: assisting with direct patient care in the appropriate specialty, radiographs, and assist in appointment scheduling and maintaining patient records.

 

Salary range for the Dental Assistant-Advanced position is $26.52-$30.49 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR DENTAL ASSISTANT-Advanced:

  • Completion of an approved Dental Assistant training program AND two years' experience as a chair side Dental Assistant in an Advanced Specialty
  • OR Three years' experience as a chair side Dental Assistant in an Advanced Specialty
  • Must have worked as a dental assistant within the last 5 years
  • Certification by the Oregon State Board of Dentistry for Radiological Proficiency required for ALL positions (upload documentation with online application)
  • Current valid BLS card required, issued by the American Heart Association (upload documentation with online application)
  • Advanced specialty dental assisting may require EFDA, EFODA, DAANC, dental anesthesia certification or other sedation/surgical advanced certifications, skills.
