As an RN Liver Pre Transplant Coordinator  with Clinical Transplant Services, you are integral to our team. You will help guide our patients through the transplant process to get on the liver transplant list and maintain their status. Providing initial and ongoing patient and family education is crucial. The RN functions as a liaison between the patients and staff members of the transplant team (physicians, social worker, financial counselor, psychiatrists, etc.) and has the primary responsibility for providing direct and indirect professional nursing care for patients.  The RN is responsible for screening and educating potential recipients, direction of the evaluation process, facilitation of committee review, direction of additional testing and update testing, and management of the waiting list.  The RN provides initial and on-going patient/family education in a variety of settings.  The RN is responsible for collection and evaluation of patient laboratory testing, diagnostic procedures, consults, and regulatory requirements.  The RN provides post-transplant cross coverage for essential functions. The RN assesses patient and family needs, develops a plan of care, implements and evaluates the care delivered, working closely with all members of the inter-disciplinary team.  The RN is expected to practice in accordance with professional standards, core values, and with a commitment to service excellence.        

 

• External applicants - Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA)
• Current OHSU employee: Associate of Science in Nursing required
• Current, unencumbered Oregon RN license
• Current BLS required at time of hire
• Minimum 3-5 years of acute-care hospital nursing
• Able to triage and prioritize patient issues using critical thinking skills
• Excellent written and verbal (incl. face-to-face) communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
• Able to work as part of a team and to work independently and problem-solve
• Able to work with frequent interruptions
• Able to work in a space shared by multiple staff and/or telework
• Able to sit and/or stand for long periods of the day performing repetitive computer related tasks and phone work
• Able to complete assignments with numerous disturbances
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

• Adult care nursing experience
• Transplant nursing experience (inpatient or outpatient setting)
• Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator
