Function/Duties of Position

The Center for Women’s Health at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is seeking a primary care provider at the Assistant Professor level. This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of an exciting team providing a full spectrum of care across multiple disciplines. With services like naturopathy, acupuncture, mental health, physical therapy, midwifery, obstetrics, gynecology (and related subspecialties), and internal medicine, the Center for Women’s Health has an innovative and collaborative approach to providing care for women from throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington. This care approach includes healthinformation services and community outreach.

The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the Director of the Center for Women’s Health in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Clinical: Provides an outstanding level of clinical performance. The expectation is that clinical performance be delivered in a manner that is compliant with appropriate regulations and guidelines (the American Board of Internal or Family Medicine, JCAHO, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, and all other state, federal, and institutional regulatory guidelines).
  • Education: Teaches trainees and support staff. Teaching is done in the course of performing their own job by modeling best practices, mentoring trainees, guiding learning through delegating graduated and focused levels of responsibility. There may also be assigned lectures to be given during the course of the year depending upon the applicant’s interest. Assistant Professors have a demonstrated competence in teaching and are knowledgeable about relevant guidelines from all applicable regulating bodies (e.g. ACGME competencies for clinical faculty).
  • Other duties: Opportunities exist for scholarly research activity directed toward improved understanding of the causes, detection, and treatment of diseases or improving the educational foundation within primary care medicine. May engage in public service through consultative activities with OHSU and non-University groups as approved by Center Director. May also participate in additional Center or hospital administration as approved by the Director.

Required Qualifications

  • M.D. degree
  • Oregon medical license
  • Demonstrated competence in research, teaching, patient care or administration or combinations of these activities
  • A potential for academic accomplishment
  • Board certification or eligibility for specialty board certification, in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fellowship training in women’s health
  • Demonstrated commitment to women’s health focus through prior experience
