Function/Duties of Position

The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. 


The Advanced Practice Provider (APP- NP or PA) serving as the Neuro-Oncology APP is a faculty member credentialed and privileged to serve as a licensed independent practitioner and is a member of the OHSU Professional Staff practicing in accordance with the respective bylaws. 


The Neuro-Oncology APP has the responsibility to be scheduled and/or allocated to Neuro-Oncology department for medical management of their acute care patients. Additionally, the Neuro-Oncology APP is responsible to partner with the patient, family, pharmacist, and nurse case manager to impact timely and effective discharges and patient flow; impact patient and family experience through communication and education; mentor residents, clinical nurses and others; promote an interdisciplinary approach to care; and support new processes to improve patient outcomes. The Neuro-Oncology APP delivers care to both inpatients and outpatients. 


In addition to key job responsibilities, qualifications and other job requirements listed below, the Neuro-Oncology APP is expected to comply with scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice. 


The AGACNP/ ACNP shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the universities missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. The AGACNP/ ACNP is expected to comply with the scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice.


The AGACNP/ ACNP delivers healthcare services to individuals within the scope of their license, provides advanced education to students, peers and others; and, may contribute to new knowledge and/or technology by conducting or participating in scholarship.

Required Qualifications

Education: 
Master’s Degree as required by specific Advanced Practice Provider role.
Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies): 
-Demonstrated ability to satisfy standards of performance delineated by law and associated professional practice standards, the latter set forth as an addendum to the position description.

Ability to manage heavy workload with multiple priorities and inflexible deadlines.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. 
-Proficient in the use of computing hardware and software, including personal computing equipment, electronic medical record, word processing and spreadsheet software.

Regular and consistent attendance at work
Registrations, Certifications and/or Licenses:
Current licensure as required by specific Advanced Practice Provider governing board(s).

Preferred Qualifications

Education:
Acute Care, Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant
Experience: 
-
Prefer 3–5 years clinical experience as an AGACNP/ ACNP/PA that demonstrates ability to fulfill responsibilities for the specific role.

Quality improvement experience 
Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies): 
-
Experience in the Microsoft Office Suite of products.
-Experience using Epic EMR
Registrations, Certifications and/or Licenses: 
AGACNP, ACNP, PA National Certification, Oregon Nurse Practitioner license with prescriptive authority or Oregon Medical Board license
