The RN Coordinator will collaborate with other members of the RN team to ensure that patient flow is expedited during clinical practice sessions and coordination of outpatient care plans. This position will be responsible to cover sick calls, vacations, and extended leave for the surgical group, offering variety and expanded knowledge of RN scope.
Responsibilities include:
- Colorectal:
- Review endoscopy path reports, discuss with providers and update patient/referring MD
- Review unresectable polyp referrals to determine best provider/place/time
- Abdominal Wall:
- Review undirected referrals to determine best provider/place/time
- Foregut:
- Support esophageal tumor board conference by reviewing outside documents in a timely manner
- Bariatric and HBP: Provide coverage as needed as well as RN resource coverage
- Coordinates and implements initiation of treatment plan of care
- Ensures that the Provider orders that result from the new patient visit are recorded and executed. Also works to ensure that laboratory and other diagnostic findings are available to clinicians in a timely fashion after tests are performed, tracking post visit flow information to ensure plans of care are executed appropriately and timely
- Triages and responds or refers inquiries and urgent care patient calls appropriately
- Recognizes and effectively responds to emergencies, speaking with Providers directly in all emergency situations
- Acts as a patient advocate, preserving basic patients and family rights
- Assists with appropriate program placement if needed

- Demonstrates knowledge of practice specific standards of care in actual performance
- Recognizes ethical issues and takes appropriate action in the provision of care
- Maintains current knowledge of pharmacology and competency in modes of administration
