Function/Duties of Position

$3,000 hiring bonus

 

Surgical Tech's (ST) provide intra-operative technical assistance to physicians and RN's caring for pediatric patients experiencing a surgical intervention/other invasive procedure. The role requires completion of annual clinical competencies, attending staff meetings and educational events during the day, and actively participating in all quality improvement opportunities assigned. The role requires that all policies, procedures, and patient safety initiatives will be followed.

 

Surgical Techs are an integral part of the team providing surgical care to patients. Must possess expertise in application of surgical technique, human anatomy, and surgical procedures. The ST must also be competent in the implementation of tools and technologies to facilitate safe care of the patient during invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. The surgical technologist role requires extended periods of standing, lifting heavy instrumentation, and potential exposure to Blood Borne Pathogens.

 

Additional requirement Relief staff for DCH OR include required holidays, weekends and/or variable shifts:

  • Work twelve (12) weekend/ night shifts per fiscal year, provided work is available and the Relief staff is needed
  • Work a major holiday each fiscal year, provided work is available and the Relief staff is needed. The holiday requirement will rotate from year to year between the major winter holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas) and the major summer holidays (Independence Day and Labor Day). 

Required Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at time of hire
  • Graduated from a Nationally-Accredited organization approved by the Oregon Health Authority as of date of hire and hold and maintain a national Surg Technologist Certification by NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technologists and Surgical Assistants) as of date of hire.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accomodation.

  • Pediatric experience preferred
