The function of the Radiologic Technologist position within the Department of Diagnostic Imaging is to perform all phases of technical diagnostic imaging.  Radiologic Technologists operate X-Ray equipment used to capture and develop images for the purpose of medical diagnosis. The Radiologic technologist promotes OHSU’s mission statement by delivering high quality, cost effective, family-oriented service.  This position helps to create a collaborative environment by integrating education, research and clinical leadership. Radiologic Technologists work with infant, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients. This position cover areas including General X-Ray, Fluoroscopy, Orthopedics Clinic, Pain Clinic, and the Surgery Operating Rooms at Center For Health and Healing at the South Waterfront area.

 

Multiple positions and schedules available.

• Must be a graduate of an accredited diagnostic radiography program that meets current qualifications to take and pass the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) board examinations in Radiography upon hire
• Student candidates must obtain the RT (R) (ARRT) certification within 6 months of their hire date
• Candidates must have a current Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) temporary license for student hires and permanent license for registered hires
• Must have a valid OHSU approved Basic Life Support BLS card
• Perform diagnostic imaging studies, Radiation safety, Effective use of equipment, Record maintenance, Infection control, Quality control, Compliance, Patient Communication, Contrast media, problem solving, judgment, teamwork and taking initiative
• Ability to speak clearly, demonstrate patience and understanding of patients' needs
• Must be able to deal with competing needs and priorities of patients and internal customers
• Use of personal computers, copiers, phones, and fax machine
• Must have ability to stand, lift, and move patients
• Ability to work a full-time position, with overtime as required
• Ability to work in a busy environment with frequent interruptions, multiple demands and continuous interaction with patients and other medical professionals. It requires being exposed to radiation, chemical solutions, and human tissue/fluids
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

• 1 year experience conducting radiologic examinations; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
• 1 year at a Level 1 Trauma Academic Medical Center Experience
