The Hospital Dental Services (HDS) dental assistant functions under the direct supervision of the faculty provider, providing assistance for the faculty provider, dental students, and residents in all areas of the hospital dental department.  Hospital Dental Services has three defined programs, pediatrics, adult dentistry, and oral surgery.  Hospital Dental Services (HDS) provides care for medically fragile and special needs patients.  Dental Assistants in the department assist in both the clinic and the operating room.

Schedule varies for clinic/OR days.  Employee works a 40 hour work week, Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM-5:00 PM (8 hour shifts, rotating through all services GPR, OMS, PEDs, and Operating Rooms in DCH, SOR, and CHH).

• Completion of an approved Dental Assistant training program OR
• One year of experience as a chair side Dental Assistant
• Certification by the Oregon State Board of Dentistry for Radiological Proficiency required for all positions  Please upload with online application
• Current valid Basic Life Support (BLS) card required (issued by the American Heart Association) required for all positions. Please upload with online application
• Must have worked as a dental assistant within the last 5 years
• Detailed knowledge and skills in assisting with surgical procedures, armentarium & equipment
• Skilled at exposing radiographs
• Experience in sterilization of instruments
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
