Department Overview

The Harold Schnitzer Diabetes Health Center & adult Endocrinology Clinic has doctors, dieticians, nurses, behavioral health specialists, and nurse practitioners specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes, as well as doctors specializing in diagnosis and treatment of endocrine disorders. http://www.ohsu.edu/xd/health/services/diabetes/

Function/Duties of Position

The Clinical Support Assistant (Administrative Assistant) provides coverage for a full range of administrative back office duties and support as part of the medical care team, including MD, RN, PA, NP, residents, fellows, technicians, medical assistants, patients and families, as well as additional learners and professionals involved in the practice.

 

This position functions within the administrative scope to assist the medical assistant team to support the Harold Schnitzer Diabetes Health Center (HSDHC) and Adult Endocrinology back office functions, as well as other Department of Medicine (DOM) clinical operations.

 

The Clinical Support Assistant works under the direction of the Lead Medical Assistant(s), and has a direct reporting relationship to the Clinical Operations Supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • Two years of general office or secretarial experience; OR
  • An Associate’s degree or certificate in office occupations or office technology and one year of general office or secretarial experience; OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree and one year of general office or secretarial experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.

Note: Successful completion of a formal OHSU Administrative Internship Program will substitute for one year of experience. Contact Compensation for confirmation of eligibility.

  • Extensive computer skills including MS Office and Windows required. 
  • Excellent customer service skills, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment required. 
  • Must be detail oriented and have good organizational skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills and communication skills, including both written and verbal. 
  • Must have good grammar skills. 
  • Must have a demonstrable record of reliable attendance, punctuality, and proven successful performance at past and present employers. 
  • Must be able to work both with a team and independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in a healthcare setting
  • Experience working with an electronic medical record system
