Function/Duties of Position

This position is responsible for the evaluation of patients (pediatric and adult) for general audiology, implants (BAHA and CI) and Hearing Aids. This position will counsel patients and their families regarding device options, use, care, maintenance, and realistic expectations.  In addition, this position provides clinical audiology support. 

 

Clinical duties:

The Audiologist is responsible for the evaluation of patients (pediatric and adult) for cochlear implants, hearing aids, balance testing and general clinic.  This may include, but not be limited to pure tone audiometry, speech audiometry, electrophysiological assessments, including ABR, OAE, and vestibular testing.  Appropriate follow-up care including aural rehabilitation, lip reading, and referral to appropriate education and community agencies will be done to ensure maximum benefit from assistive devices.

 

Administrative duties: 

Provides excellent customer service and maintains good public relations. Is responsible for management oversight of office procedures and will share administrative duties with colleagues as needed. This position will actively participate in the training of graduate students in audiology fellowship positions, who are engaged in practicum experiences at OHSU.

Required Qualifications

  • Oregon Licensure in Audiology, by the Board of Examiners to dispense hearing aids through the Health Division
  • Maintenance of the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) must be maintained
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience in audiology - preferably with cochlear implants and/or vestibular testing
