OHSU Mission Control is the operational hub developed to manage inpatient access and capacity at OHSU in real-time, while improving throughput and balancing utilization across the OHSU Healthcare System. This operational hub is comprised of multiple functional groups collaborating to achieve organizational strategic goals across our system. This includes acceptance of 100% of appropriate transfers and balancing the different inpatient access portals; inter-hospital transfers, ED admissions, clinic admissions, direct admissions and scheduled surgical and procedural admissions. Mission Control is a rapidly evolving environment which is expected to grow in both size and scope. 

The Nurse Manager of Mission Control is responsible for the following groups and functions in Mission Control:

• Transfer Center Registered Nurses (TCRN): a clinical nurse who screens and facilitates placement of appropriate patients in OHSU Health System partner hospitals, including inter-hospital transfers, OHSU Emergency Department patients, OHSU inpatients, Kaiser overflow patients under contract with the OHSU Health System, and patients enrolled in narrow-network insurance plans contracted with the OHSU Health System
• Emergency Transport Coordinators (ETCs): Triages and coordinates all transfers to OHSU's main campus, and helps the TCRNs identify patients who may be appropriate for partner facilities. ETCs have a wide range of high acuity responsibilities including taking ambulance and trauma reports, activating emergency response and procedural teams (e.g. RRT, trauma, STEMI, INR, and ECMO), dispatching the PANDA team, and supporting regional EMS during mass casualty incidents.
• Computer User Support Analyst (CUSA): Meets with customers and evaluates computer information requirements, designs and develops or assists on the selection and implementation of computer applications, provides support for the operation and maintenance of existing computer applications and/or clinical/operational workflows relating to the use and optimization of the systems.

The Manager will be a member of the Mission Control leadership team. They will be heavily involved in strategic planning, identification of improvement opportunities and implementation of initiatives designed to manage access, capacity and throughput across the healthcare system. The Manager will collaborate in this work with the Nursing Director, Nurse Manager, Chief Medical Capacity Officer, Chief Medical Transfer Officer, Doernbecher Medical Capacity Officer, Emergency Communications Center Operations Manager, Nursing Leadership colleagues, hospital services and departments within OHSU, as well as OHSU Healthcare System leadership.

• Department Specific Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Mission Control leadership team to provide support and oversight for Mission Control daily operations. 
• Department Specific Requirements/Competencies: Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to provide effective leadership and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. Demonstrated ability to lead teams through change in a complex and dynamic environment. 

• Bachelor's degree
• 5 years of extensive experience in healthcare and 2 years of recent formal or informal management/leadership experience
• Strong communication and management skills, teamwork (demonstrated ability to build a team and integrate existing teams)
• Ability to remain focused while performing multiple tasks and assignments
• Knowledge and understanding of federal guidelines and regulations as they pertain to EMTALA, HCFA and HIPAA
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
  

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's degree in nursing or related field (e.g. MBA with Healthcare Administration concentration, Public Health); OR enrolled in nursing or related graduate program within 2 years and completion within 5 years
• Recent formal management experience in the related clinical area of practice
• Professional certification in nursing leadership-Nurse Executive/Administrator within 3 years of assuming the manager role.
• Unencumbered Oregon RN License
• BLS for healthcare provider
