OHSU's Intercultural Psychiatric Clinic is an expert in providing culturally sensitive mental health services to immigrant and refugee communities. We offer individual and group therapy as well as psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and case management in collaboration with primary care providers, and various community services. Many of our staff are immigrants or former refugees themselves so they have a profound understanding of the struggles that this community faces. Our team of counselors who speak many different languages work alongside psychiatrists to provide interpretation, cultural insight, and basic skills training. The Torture Treatment Center of Oregon (TTCO) is a program within IPP that meets the unique needs of survivors of torture.

Function/Duties of Position

The Psychiatric Clinic Director is responsible for all activities falling under the Intercultural Psychiatric Program (IPP). The IPP is the region’s premiere behavioral health clinic for refugee and immigrant services. This position is in charge of making sure that the behavioral health care provided at this clinic meets and exceeds the standard of care for the community, and is in line with evidence-based care.

This position deals with many different funding sources, including but not limited to contracts with CCOs, grants for refugee services and foundation funding. Also works with an administrative team consisting of a faculty practice manager, a clinical supervisor and a Director of Clinical Operations for the Department of Psychiatry, as well as the larger Department administrative services. Will provide 40% medical directorship time and 60% clinical time.

Required Qualifications

  • MD/DO
  • The Director is an active member of the Medical Staff and has a special interest, training, and knowledge in the diagnosis, treatment and assessment of culturally specific mental health disorders
