Department Overview

The OHSU-PSU School of Public Health (SPH) is aligned with the American Public Health Association in declaring racism a public health crisis, and our School is committed to becoming an antiracist SPH. We are working to center social justice in our internal and external work as a school and are committed to addressing structural and institutional racism, and to holding ourselves accountable to this work. 

Function/Duties of Position

  1. Reviewing and synthesizing the literature
  2. Writing (manuscripts and reports)
  3. Transcription of recordings of interviews
  4. Coding and analysis of qualitative data
  5. Working in a team-based environment

Required Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in an OHSU graduate program (minimum 4.5 credit hours)
  • Experience conducting literature reviews, accessing library and other information resources, and writing academic products.
  • Proficient with computer programs, particularly Adobe and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of health services delivery in the U.S.
  • Must possess strong verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct literature reviews (published, grey, internet), synthesize findings; write summary documents in multiple formats (annotated bibliographies, reports, fact sheets, manuscripts, etc.).
  • Ability to work collaboratively on a team, as well as work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Motivated, creative, self-starter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with qualitative software, such as NVivo
  • Experience with evaluation
  • Familiarity with Oregon health system, including Coordinated Care Organizations
  • Familiarity with behavioral health including SUD and mental health
  • Familiarity with the CCBHC program, both nationally and in Oregon

Additional Details

Student workers may work at the Vanport Building downtown or remotely on a flexible schedule with up to 2-3 required meetings a week.  Can join meetings remotely.
