The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.

This position reports to (supervisor): Dr. Hui Wu, Interim Chair Department, of Integrative Biomedical & Diagnostic Sciences, Associate Dean of Research, School of Dentistry.

The primary duties of this position include:

• Contribute to overall research mission in the School of Dentistry
• Didactic teaching in the pre-doctoral and graduate level including course direction and lectures
• Carry out independent funded research in microbiome and informatics, design appropriate studies, perform those experiments, collect and analyze data and prepare and submit manuscripts for publication
• Collaborate with other investigators in the field
• Write and submit grant proposals to external agencies based on their preliminary studies to expand the existing research programs, and develop new fundable research programs
• Research mentoring and instructions to students, postdocs, research staff and visiting scholars

• Must have completed advanced education (PhD) in a basic science specialty with at least 3 years of postdoctoral training in microbiome and bioinformatics
• Expertise in teaching, assessment of student learning, and program evaluation

• Previous teaching experience and/or a record of externally funded research activities and maintain an active research and service portfolio
• Track record of collaborations with desirable experts in their research programs
