Department Overview

The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the University’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.

 

This position reports to (supervisor): Comprehensive Pain Center Medical Director,  Kim Mauer

Function/Duties of Position

Appointee shall have a demonstrated competence in research, teaching, patient care or administration or combinations of these activities. 

The Psychologist:

  • Conducts psychological evaluations and assessments including clinical interviews, behavioral assessments, and administers standard psychological tests.
  • Provides short term, solution focused psychological treatment services to foster adjustment and adaptive coping with chronic and acute pain, disability, special health needs, chronic illness, and behavioral/psychological difficulties.
  • Participates in CPC interdisciplinary diagnostic team assessments and treatment planning.
  • Coordinates clinical services with community providers as needed.
  • Demonstrates Core Competencies expected of all OHSU employees in the areas of Accountability, Integrity, Diversity, Respect, Service Orientation, Teamwork and Collaboration, and Communication.
  • Complies with OHSU policies related to Code of conduct, Respect in the workplace, and all applicable policies, procedures and agreements related to position, department or OHSU as a whole.

Provides an outstanding level of professional performance (e.g. quality of investigation for research faculty; quality of clinical care for clinical faculty; quality of administrative function in education office).  Professional performance is to be delivered in a manner that is compliant with the regulations and guidelines of all relevant regulating bodies (e.g. the American Society of Anesthesiologists, JCAHO, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, OHSU IRB, NIH and all other state, federal, and institutional regulatory guidelines).  Treats all patients, research subjects, trainees and co-workers with dignity and respect.

 

Teaches trainees and support staff in their area of professional expertise as necessary. 

 

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or PsyD, Graduate from an APA approved Psychology Program
  • Training/experience providing pain management psychology  treatment
  • Diagnostic experience with conditions affecting health and behavior
  • Experience treating patients with acute and chronic pain conditions
  • Licensed or eligible for Psychology licensure in Oregon
  • Able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
