Function/Duties of Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) serving as the Gold Surgery provider is a faculty member credentialed and privileged to serve as a licensed independent practitioner, and is a member of the OHSU Professional Staff practicing in accordance with the respective bylaws.  

 

The Gold Surgery service APP has the responsibility to be scheduled and/or allocated to Gold Surgery for medical management of their acute care patients. Additionally, the Gold Surgery APP is responsible to partner with the patient and family and nurse case manager to impact timely and effective discharges and patient flow; impact patient and family experience through communication and education; mentor residents, clinical nurses and others; promote an interdisciplinary approach to care; and support new processes to improve patient outcomes.     

                 

In addition to key job responsibilities, qualifications and other job requirements listed below, the Gold Surgery APP is expected to comply with scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice.  

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree as required by specific Advanced Practice Provider role. Required certification in specialty area.
  • Current licensure as required by specific Advanced Practice Provider governing board(s).
  • Demonstrated ability to satisfy standards of performance delineated by law and associated professional practice standards, the latter set forth as an addendum to the position description.
  • Ability to manage heavy workload with multiple priorities and inflexible deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in the use of computing hardware and software, including personal computing equipment, electronic medical record, word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Regular and consistent attendance at work
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Adult Gerontology Acute care NP, Acute Care NP or Physician Assistant.
  • Lean performance improvement knowledge and experience.
  • Academic medical center experience
  • Experience in the Microsoft Office Suite of products.
  • Experience using Epic EMR
