The Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC) is located 12 miles west of the OHSU main campus, and sits on 162 acres of land featuring forested areas, research and administration buildings, indoor and outdoor animal housing, a pond, and 2-mile perimeter walking path. The Research Support Manager oversees a group of Lab Animal and Veterinary Research/Health technicians and their Supervisor, assuring environmental sanitation, optimal animal care, regulatory compliance and research protocol support within the Oregon National Primate Research Center, Animal Resources & Research Support. The position ensures satisfactory completion of research support protocols while maintaining animal care, regulatory compliance, quality control and environmental sanitation. The manager supports research staff by implementing ONPRC policies and guidelines, developing standard operating procedures (SOP) in conjunction with veterinarians, updating SOP & GL documents, providing and documenting technical training for employees within assigned work units, reviewing Divisional Operations, purchasing supplies, technical writing and managing numerous strategic projects. The Research Support Manager oversees all husbandry, research support and facility upkeep of assigned buildings. The manager is responsible for general management of personnel issues and works as a member of a highly interdependent Operations Unit using a professional approach by providing quality control and ensuring satisfactory completion of assigned tasks.
