Function/Duties of Position

This position uses information systems and customer service skills to coordinate patient nutrition care. The Diet Tech provides support to the Adult and Pediatric Dietitians, and Room Service Call Center staff. Tasks include calculating and recording results of nutrient intake analysis in the medical record, calculating specialized enteral/infant feedings, monitoring inventory usage, placing orders for enteral and infant nutrition products.  May provide clinical nutrition care to less nutritionally complicated patients including providing nutrition education to these patients as directed by and under the direct supervision of the Director of Clinical Nutrition or Clinical Dietitians.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a Dietetic Technician Associate’s degree; OR
    Associate’s Degree in Science (AS), OR
    Associate’s Degree in Applied Science (AAS), OR
    Four year degree in Food and Nutrition or related field
  • Working knowledge of basic math, applied clinical nutrition
  • Demonstrated ability to screen individuals for nutrition risk, calculate diets for common conditions, determine nutrient requirements
  • Must be able to work in an office with 2-5 others
  • Must be flexible in work schedule (includes weekend and holiday rotations)
  • Must be able to work fully on-site (may be eligible for hybrid/telework in the future)
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to walk extensively during shift
  • Must be able to carry 15ibs (1 case of formula)
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

  • ServSafe Certification (if not certified when hired must pass within 3 months of hire)
  • Food Handlers Card if ServSafe Certification not current
  • Dietetic Technician, Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
