Department Overview

The individual hired for this position will perform various duties for the Sterol Analysis Laboratory Core at OHSU under general supervision, including various standardized and routine or expert service functions in Core. May perform some assignments independently.

 

The Laboratory PI, Dr. Andrea DeBarber, performs research and oversees the Sterol Analysis Laboratory Core that specializes in providing regulated bioanalytical services.

 

Duties include processing biospecimens for testing, monitoring the performance of bioanalytical laboratory testing, reviewing and reporting test results, monitoring the completion of all testing. Experience operating and monitoring the performance of LC-MS/MS instrumentation is required for this position. Responsibilities may also include development and validation of LC-MS/MS testing methodology in compliance with regulatory guidelines. May train users in LC-MS/MS instrument operation. May include routine duties as directed and under supervision that include maintaining and calibrating laboratory analytical instruments and equipment; monitoring supplies inventory; environmental temperature monitoring; and performing computer database entries.

 

Experience performing bioanalytical sample testing is preferred for this position, ideally in a regulated environment. Familiarity with high-throughput sample processing and analysis (96-well plate format) is preferred.

 

Experience with operating SCIEX LC-MS/MS instrumentation and software (Analyst, MultiQuant) is preferred for this position.

Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail are critical for this position. Duties include preparation and review of documentation according to good documentation practices and preparation and review of regulatory documents.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in relevant field OR
  • Bachelor's with relevant coursework AND 1 year of relevant experience OR
  • Associates in relevant field AND 2 years of relevant experience OR
  • Equivalent skills sets as listed below, or combination of skills, education, experience.
  • Experience operating and monitoring the performance of LC-MS/MS instrumentation is required for this position.
  • Able to work in environment with exposure to human body fluid.
  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail are critical.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member in a diverse multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Excellent multi-tasking and record keeping skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Additional Details

  • This position typically works M-F during standard work hours, however flexible availability is required including occasional evenings and weekends. Exposure to typical lab environment, including chemicals, human body fluid, research samples, and research equipment.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time at lab bench and in front of a computer. Fine motor dexterity is required. An ability to stand for several hours may be required.
