Dr. Carbone is an Associate Professor in the School of Medicine at OHSU and is affiliated with the Departments of Medicine, Molecular & Medical Genetics , Medical Informatics & Clinical Epidemiology and the Oregon National Primate Research Center. Dr. Carbone is also the director of the KCVI Epigenetic consortium, which works to promote epigenetics research and education across faculty, students, and physicians.

The Carbone Lab at the Oregon Health & Science University invites applications for a Computational Biologist. The recruited person will work under supervision of the PI and a computational staff scientist to contribute to a newly funded project that aims to generate epigenetic maps from non-human primate tissues during development.

 

• This includes performing bioinformatic analysis of next generation sequence data from Hi-C, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq and RNA-seq assays, using established pipelines and/or open-source software.  
• This position requires a hard-working individual who has excellent attention to details and is capable of working in a highly collaborative environment while contributing to multiple projects simultaneously.
• Solid bioinformatic computational skills are required for data analysis and documentation. 
• Analyze epigenetic data generated via high-throughput sequencing as part of a funded U24 project.
• Linux system and website administration
• Participate in meetings

• Master's Degree in Computational Biology or related field OR 
• Bachelor's Degree in Computational Biology or related field AND 3 years of relevant experience.

• At least 1 year previous experience in bioinformatics analysis, including analysis of next-generation sequencing data.

• Good oral and writing skills are required for summarizing and presenting results to colleagues and collaborators.
• Ability and willingness to take on some duties as Linux system and website administrator is a plus.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

• Experience with epigenetics data analysis
