• Understand OHSU’s Research Information System business needs/dependencies and translate those needs into system requirements.


• Work with system developers to organize development cycles including fixes and enhancements using project management processes; produce project status documentation and metrics; provide regular communication ensuring system solutions meet stakeholder needs.


• Produce technical documentation and diagrams, such as requirements logs, process and data flow diagrams.


• Formulate test strategy, develop and review test plans, execute tests and facilitate defect resolution.

• Lead small to large projects including resources, vendors, schedule, scope, and quality of deliverables.


• Work with development resources to prioritize, plan and execute user priority fixes within the system.


• Oversee the development cycle and ensure planned activities are executed in accordance to the business needs. This includes tracking each development cycle and the status of issues added.


• Troubleshoot production issues and provide user support.


• Analyze requirements and design solutions to meet customer needs for enhancements and fixes to systems, applications, reports and interfaces. Provide level of effort estimates to support resource planning.


• Document specifications and develop plans to correct problems that may include modifications to user procedures, user data entry instructions, user training, and/or system correction proposals.


• Analyze applications and systems to identify opportunities for simplification and enhancement.


• Analyze present and future system needs of customers and make recommendations on options and alternatives for implementing applications and systems.


• Document future requests and keep them organized and staged for future build cycles.


• Familiarize and educate staff on process and policy changes.

• Ensure that proper quality assurance standards are applied throughout the software development lifecycle. Manage work requests from initiation through close.


• Help to ensure data integrity and validity of applications and reports.


• Assist and/or develop test cases and scripts and thoroughly test fixes and enhancements prior to release into user testing.


• Work with vendor technical support to facilitate the application of patches and the timely resolution of Service Requests.


• Maintain a problem/issues log and communicate problem status to customers.


• Communicate build cycle status based on prioritization regularly to key stakeholders and end-users.

• Must have expert knowledge of and demonstrated success in system analysis concepts and tools.


• Ability to develop detailed user requirements / specifications documentation supporting large, complex system enhancements.


• Must have a thorough knowledge of data models and database design concepts.


• Knowledge of development life-cycle, testing and production environment procedures.


• Knowledge of quality assurance processes in a software development environment


• Ability to develop and execute test scenarios, test cases, and test scripts for software fixes, patches, and enhancements


• Must have excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills: both written and verbal.


• Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships.


• Ability to work both independently as part of a team, while being collaborative in resolving problems.


• Must have demonstrated excellent customer service skills both on the phone and in person.


• Must possess energy and drive to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.


• Must be proficient with microcomputers running Windows applications (e.g. MS Excel, Access, Project, and Word)


• Must have thorough knowledge compiling flowcharts and using flowcharting software (e.g. Visio)

• 5+ years of system analyst experience.


• 2+ years of quality analyst experience.


• Experience in Oracle, .NET, and SQL environments
