Responsible for direction, coordination, and supervision of the activities for material management staff. Serves as an expert resource for OHSU on supply issues. Has a budget conscience and facilitates tasks to maximize the efficiency of the material team. Monitors and follows up on quality indicators and solution benchmarks

• Oversees the hiring/termination of material management staff. Participates in performance appraisals for staff. Oversee and coordinate staff training to ensure adequate skill levels within department. Initiates disciplinary actions and work plan as needed. Resolves work related issues such as performance, interpersonal conflicts, workload, and scheduling. Uses discretion in discussion related to staffing or personal concerns. Promotes professional development and contributes to the professional growth of others.
• Assist & Support Periop Material Manager & Supporting Services in the planning, growth and expansion of department to include new products and technologies. Works collaboratively with Manager to create a united management team for future goals and the day to day operational function.
• Facilitates departmental in-services and assists with training and coaching of employees. Encourages successful team development by actively involving staff in planning, decision-making and solving team conflicts.
• Oversees and supports the value analysis activities at OHSU in regards to item evaluation, approval, and item file setup
• Demonstrates critical thinking skills in problem solving and decision-making. Demonstrates confidentiality regarding patient and co-worker information according to the OHSU Code of Conduct and Human Resource policies and procedures.

• Oversees various personnel actions including, but not limited to, contract interpretations, hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, terminations and other related activities.

Education: Bachelor's degree

Experience: 3-5 years Material Management and Coordination in Perioperative Services

• Ability to utilize material management data systems.
• Ability to read and interpret reports to determine trends in utilization and product requirements.
• Demonstrates effective written and verbal skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates expertise in material management matters
