Function/Duties of Position

The OHSU Digestive Health Center (DHC) is a multi-disciplinary center offering services in the ambulatory setting for specialty surgical services, gastroenterology, hepatology, bariatrics and nutrition.  The programs work in a close team that includes MD, RN, MA, and schedulers that work together to provide excellent quality care for complex patients. The patient experience with the program begins with their initial appointment and can include clinic visits, procedures, surgery, and follow-up care.

The Resource RN Patient Care Coordinator (RN) will provide care coordination, assessment and triage, medication management and clinical support to the teams in the ambulatory setting.  The nurse will perform medical record review, follow developed protocols, determine appropriate patient scheduling, assist with monitoring diagnostic results and patient care progress/processes as requested by providers, and participate in quality reviews.  The nurse will work alongside a team of RN care coordinators within the DHC.

The OHSU Clinical registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities and patient populations. The Clinical RN's care delivery is consistent with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics.
