Function/Duties of Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) serving as the Vascular Surgery provider is a faculty member credentialed and privileged to serve as a licensed independent practitioner, and is a member of the OHSU Professional Staff practicing in accordance with the respective bylaws.

 

The Vascular surgery APP has the responsibility to be scheduled and/or allocated to Vascular Surgery for medical management of their acute care patients. Additionally, the Vascular Surgery APP is responsible to partner with the patient and family and nurse case manager to impact timely and effective discharges and patient flow; impact patient and family experience through communication and education; mentor residents, clinical nurses and others; promote an interdisciplinary approach to care; and support new processes to improve patient outcomes.

 

In addition to key job responsibilities, qualifications and other job requirements listed below, the Vascular Surgery APP is expected to comply with scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice.  

Required Qualifications

  • Current licensure as required by specific Advanced Practice Provider governing board(s).
  • Current Board Certification, specialty specific
  • Master’s Degree as required by specific Advanced Practice Provider role.
  • Demonstrated ability to satisfy standards of performance delineated by law and associated professional practice standards, the latter set forth as an addendum to the position description.
  • Ability to manage heavy workload with multiple priorities and inflexible deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in the use of computing hardware and software, including personal computing equipment, electronic medical record, word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Regular and consistent attendance at work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer 3–5 years clinical experience as an APP that demonstrates ability to fulfill responsibilities for the specific role.
  • Quality improvement experience
  • Experience in the Microsoft Office Suite of products.
  • Experience using Epic EMR
