The OHSU Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) is seeking a full-time (1.00 FTE) nurse practitioner or physician assistant to join our team to be staffed in the emergency department at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
The Columbia Memorial Hospital (CMH) emergency department is located in beautiful Astoria, Oregon on the rugged north Oregon coast, just 90 minutes from Portland. The ED cares for over 14,000 patients annually with seasonal increases during the summer months; we have proudly served the healthcare needs of our community for over a century. Our providers manage all age ranges and a standard variety of emergent and acute conditions. There is one, 10-hour daily Advanced Practice shift. Accommodations are provided with close proximity to CMH.
As part of our emergency services team you will have autonomy as well as support with immediate access for advice and assistance. Maintain and raise your clinical skills in this learning organization through involvement in skills labs, peer review and CME support. Monthly education meetings allow for a focused group discussion and a process of care standardization.
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is credentialed and privileged as a Physician Assistant (PA) or an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) (in a respective Specialty area; i.e., Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP)). The APP is a member of the OHSU Professional Staff practicing in accordance with the respective bylaws. The APP shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. The APP is expected to comply with scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice.
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant APP participates in providing services as an advanced practice provider, according to the parameters of the written practice agreement (separate document) with the Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine. The APP is supported by the designated Emergency Medicine attending.
This position reports to (supervisor): Paul Silka, MD, MHA, Medical Director and Associate Professor, Emergency Medicine
The duties of this position include:
Education: Master’s Degree as required by specific Advanced Practice Provider role.
Experience: Prefer 2-3 years clinical experience as an APP that demonstrates ability to fulfill responsibilities for the specific role or 2-3 years nursing or other experience providing clinical care in an emergency setting.

Registrations, Certifications and/or Licenses: Current licensure as required by specific Advanced Practice Provider governing board(s).
