At OHSU's Oregon Institute of Occupational Health Sciences, we perform research aimed at promoting health and reducing disease and disability among workers across the nation, particularly in Oregon. This position will provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the OHSU’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service.
The Allen laboratory is studying the mechanisms that generate and entrain circadian rhythms in the suprachiasmatic nucleus. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to assist with several projects using mouse models and immunohistochemical and live cell imaging techniques. The research assistant 2 will be responsible for experiments in the laboratory, including generating and maintaining brain slice cultures, mouse handling and colony management, live cell imaging, immunohistochemical staining, and data analysis. This position also participates in general lab maintenance.
Ability to carry and lift 35 lbs.; ability to stand for 3 continuous hours a day; ability to work on a computer for 5 continuous hours a day; ability to read fine print; ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.
