Department Overview

The Cancer Early Detection Advanced Research (CEDAR) center at the Knight Cancer Institute is composed of biologists, chemists, biomedical engineers, computationalists, and clinicians working on cutting-edge, transdisciplinary research centered on one idea—early cancer detection. Our mission at CEDAR is to detect and stop lethal cancers at the earliest stage because early detection saves lives. This is an ambitious goal, one that requires novelty, creativity, and innovation. At CEDAR, we are changing how cancer research is done. We conduct groundbreaking translational cancer research to help people maintain a high quality of life and reduce cancer mortality, to create a global early detection community, and to have a positive impact on the Oregon economy.

Every Knight Cancer employee is expected to embody our guiding principles:

  • We act BOLDLY—Breakthroughs require pushing the boundaries of science, exploring new frontiers, and thinking differently
  • We SUPPORT each other—Respect leads to trust, which leads to excellence
  • We work as a CONNECTED team — We must leverage our collective brain power to conquer cancer because no one individual can do it alone

Function/Duties of Position

As the Senior Clinical Research Manager for CEDAR you will work closely with the Knight Clinical Research Management (CRM) group, the CEDAR CMO, and CEDAR leadership to support the conduct of translational clinical research by improving the lives of people and families with cancer.  In this role you will support the application of innovative strategies for cancer prevention, screening diagnosis and treatment, and ensure proactive, high quality and efficient study management in compliance with federal regulations and local policies and procedures. Your responsibilities include overseeing the CEDAR clinical research team in the overall conduct of clinical trials using Good Clinical Practice and for tracking and complying with clinical trial performance benchmarks, patient safety, staff development and training, and financial goals.

You are responsible for creating a caring and compassionate patient-focused experience and serves as a liaison between investigators and industry partners as well as other stakeholders within the institution.

As Senior Clinical Research Manager you will have demonstrated successful leadership and management of clinical research programs, comfort with and capability making decisions of impact, acting as a mentor for junior managers and staff, and leading process improvement efforts within the department and program.
