Department Overview

The CHH Perianesthesia Unit is a department within Perioperative Services within the Nursing Division. There are 15 operating rooms within the surgical department, as well as a GI Unit and minor procedure room. The daily average volume of patient procedures performed ranges between 30-60 patients daily. The mission of the department is to provide exemplary, cost-effective care to the surgical patient, and to serve as a role model for surgical patient care in the Pacific Northwest. This position requires working/floating within the perioperative services units.

Function/Duties of Position

$5,000 Hiring Bonus

 

The Perianesthesia CNA works as a member of an interdisciplinary team at CHH and MPV Perianesthesia units. Provides support to the nursing team for Pre/Post and PACU in Perioperative Services. The CNA assists care providers in the care of patients in the pre/post and post anesthesia care units, by performing simple procedures and treatments and maintaining a safe, clean, efficiently stocked environment. The CNA is expected to float within the Perioperative Division.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED;
  • Reads, writes and speaks fluent English;
  • Requires current Oregon CNA I Certificate;
  • Computer experience needed for documentation, ect;
  • Must be able to effectively utilize oral and written communication skills with staff and the public in English
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks
  • Ability to develop systems/routine independently to reflect standard work defined by unit.
  • Adheres to OHSU attendance policy
  • Able to direct patients and visitors throughout the OHSU campus
  • Other duties such as transportation of specimens, finding supplies, etc. as requested by staff and Dept. Director
  • Experience using multi-line phones

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of CNA experience in a hospital setting;
  • Current CNA II Certificate preferred for department;
  • One year in Perianesthesia department or short stay department;
  • Experience in EPIC program;
  • Basic understanding of OHSU Hospital and Clinic Policies and Procedures, and Department Policies and Procedures.
