Department Overview

The purpose of this position is to provide diagnostic, evaluative and treatment services on a per diem basis to children with developmental disabilities, neuromuscular and orthopedic impairments, and special health care needs at the Child Development and Rehabilitation Center of Oregon Health and Science University. 

 

The individual in this position may provide indirect educational experiences to pre-physical therapy students who are fulfilling required observational hours for entry into professional physical therapy programs.

Function/Duties of Position

  • Provide Physical Therapy treatment services for infants, children and youth with conditions that adversely affect developmental motor performance.

  • Perform Physical Therapy evaluations that address musculoskeletal, neuromotor, mobility and gait, and developmental and functional status; address orthotic, prosthetic, and adaptive equipment needs.

  • Document all patient contacts including evaluations, treatment plans, treatment notes, discharge planning and/or summary notes in compliance with OHSU, JCAHO, and 3rd party payer standards

  • Coordinate care with CDRC Interdisciplinary team and community providers including primary care providers, educationally-based providers, and other treating therapists and providers.
  • Participate in training of pre-professional students and physical therapy interns.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Completed an accredited physical therapy educational program and be eligible to obtain an Oregon Physical Therapy license or temporary permit.
    • At the time of appointment must have at least a temporary permit.
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Experience in medically based physical therapy treatment setting providing assessment and treatment services to children and youth with varied neuromotor, orthopedic and developmental disorders.

  • Internship in Pediatric Physical Therapy

Environment, Physical Demands & Equipment Usage

 

Travel to OHSU campus in Portland required for employee orientation and trainings.

 

Regular lifting of children and youth with mobility impairments; moving to and from floor positions in the course of providing physical therapy assessments and treatments.
