Posting Salary: $107,347 - $122,606 with Doctoral degree, with final salary commensurate with experience and in alignment with internal equity. Faculty may be hired in at a higher rank dependent on education and experience.

Department Overview

This position requires on-site work in the Portland area with occasional travel to OHSU Rural Campuses in La Grande, Klamath Falls, and South Coast including site visits to clinical partners.

 

SON faculty members who have advanced practice specialization (nurse practitioner, nurse¿midwife, clinical nurse specialist or nurse anesthetist) may function in all of the missions of the School. Scholarly teaching is an expectation for faculty members. The faculty member must be nationally certified and state licensed. If clinical practice is at an OHSU setting, the faculty member must be credentialed and privileged as a member of the OHSU Professional Staff in accordance with the specialty by laws.

 

The faculty member will be assigned teaching, scholarship/research and service responsibilities by the program director in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. The advanced practice faculty member is expected to comply with scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU and SON policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice. This particular position is for the FNP program and includes a small FTE for grant administration in the Ashland area. 

Function/Duties of Position

Clinical Activities (not related to teaching or research):

  • This position requires an OR FNP license. Licensure as an FNP in the state of Oregon requires clinical practice as an FNP.
  • This faculty’s clinical practice may be separate from the OHSU FTE or may be incorporated into the overall OHSU FTE; this is part of the position negotiation.

Scholarly Activities (research/writing, abstracts, grant supported work, presentations, etc.):

  • Assists in administration of Renew grant in Portland area in underserved communities including coordination of clinical placements and developing strong relationships with Renew grant partners.

Education Activities (include types of teaching and types of student taught):

  • Instructs and supervises FNP graduate and doctoral students in the Portland area with occasional travel to OHSU Rural Campuses in La Grande, Klamath Falls, and South Coast including site visits to clinical partners.

Service Activities:

  • These activities could include faculty meetings, student advising, committee membership, professional activities and other responsibilities as assigned by the Program or Academic Director.
  • Participates in faculty governance; additional engagement based on rank.

Administrative Activities:

  • As negotiated.

Other Activities:

  • The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.

Required Qualifications

Education: (Degree dependent on academic program type and rank of position.)

  • Doctorate (PhD or DNP—earned or in-process) is required

Registrations, Certifications and/or Licenses:  (Current licensure & certifications could be required depending on position and academic program.)

  • Oregon RN license
  • FNP license
  • Current CPR card required
  • Approval by OSBN for NP educators is required

Experience:  (Experience dependent on academic program type and rank of position.)

  • At least two (2) years of clinical experience required

Preferred Qualifications

Experience:  (Experience dependent on academic program type and rank of position.)

  • Experience in primary care preferred
  • Teaching experience at the baccalaureate level or higher preferred.
  • Current or previous clinical experience in primary care preferred.
