The overall purpose of this position is to provide customers with the goods and services needed to perform the functions of their jobs and support the OHSU mission of healing, teaching, and discovery. Staff in this position frequently communicate with customers to identify and resolve problems.

 

The primary duties are focus on warehousing, medical supply delivery, inventory support, restocking/maintaining POU machines, linen distribution/collection, and other medical supply distribution tasks to support direct patient care areas. This position may serve as the backup lead worker. This position is the first level of two within this job classification and reports to Logistics Managers.

Logistics Warehouse (South Waterfront) and Marquam Hill are our primary Medical supply picking and distribution staging points. The Macadam Warehouse is not your typical warehouse environment due to healthcare customers. Linen distribution also occurs from the location to South Waterfront and offsite clinics. Heavy use of picking software for confirmation of order fulfillment. Limited use of pallet jack and picking technology. Marquam Hill is a healthcare environment with supplies originating from the staging points of the loading docks.

 

Regularly driving a 25-foot box truck (or smaller) during the shift with a valid driver's license and exceptional driving history to meet OHSU guidelines. 

 

• Performs receiving, stocking, data entry, picking, delivery, and functions as necessary to ensure required daily tasks are completed on time, and sufficiently, to meet the customer’s needs for medical supplies and linen.
• Performs requirements of, and maintains compliance with, organizational guidelines and policies.
• Stocks and empties Scrub Avail dispensers and empty chute rooms as necessary to ensure an accurate and adequate supply of scrubs and linen are available to meet customer needs.
• Performs preventive maintenance functions of the Pyxis/ParEx supply machines/areas as necessary to ensure accurate restocking and patient charging.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and efficient working environment; Shelves: ensures shelves are properly erected, clean, neat, properly stocked, and marked with product information. Housekeeping: ensures the warehouse is clean, packaging removed, and non-stock products are neatly arranged.
  • Facilities: ensures facility deficiencies are reported.
  • Equipment: provides proper care and regular services to equipment, logs, and reports deficiencies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains knowledge of, adheres to, and knows the locations for, departmental policy, procedure, safety, and MSDS manuals.
• When tasked, drives organizational vehicles in a safe and efficient manner, assist Logistics Fleet and Warehouse supervisors with the maintenance and refueling, maintains driver's log, and fills out vehicle inspection reports as necessary.
• Have and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Maintain special equipment as assigned i.e. tire chains, inclement weather accessories, tire jacks, etc. Performs emergency roadside service to vehicles such as changing a flat tire.

• Knowledge of spoken and written English at the high school graduate level
• Entry level experience performing stores (retail) and inventory work; AND
• Training or experience providing knowledge of inventory control systems, and transportation agencies and shipping methods (Amazon Purchasing).
• Conflict resolution skills and the ability to demonstrate effective time management.
• Must be able to maintain compliance with organizational guidelines and policies.
• Driver’s license and driving record that meets OHSU’s driving requirements.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.

• Must be able to read and write English and have basic mathematical skills.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years of warehouse experience and two years of customer service experience are preferred.
• Working knowledge of hospital materials management distribution systems.  Medical supply familiarity, knowledge of OHSU systems, and medical terminology are preferred.
• Understanding how to set min/max’s; experience using handheld counting devices; forklift training preferred

• The employee's work may require exposure to soiled linen while performing duties. Employer will provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Employees may handle, pick, and stock hazardous items such as fluids, including Cidex. Employer will provide hazardous material training.
• Appropriate safety precautions to be utilized before handling any hazardous/dirty things. In this position, the employee may work in locations exposed and affected by weather elements, including rain, hail, snow, heat, humidity, and wind; fluctuating noise levels; dust; vibrations, and on occasion, wet/slippery areas.
• Ability to lift and carry 35 lbs. unassisted frequently, and up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
• Ability to push and pull up to 1200 lbs. repetitively. Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, rotate, and stretch frequently while handling product up to 50 lbs. unassisted. Ability to traverse flat, uneven, and/or steep terrain and slopes, frequently while manually controlling large and heavy loads in motion.
• Driving of OHSU owned/leased vehicles.
• Continually: Moving about in work area, Rapid-Mental/Hand/Eye Coordination.
• Frequently: Standing, Bending Forward, Working on Hands & Knees, Reaching Overhead, Lifting, Pushing Overhead, Moving Carts, and Carrying Items.
