Function/Duties of Position

OSHA 1910.333(a)(1) requires electrical systems to be deenergized before technicians work on or near them unless deenergizing introduces additional or increased hazards.

 

This position reports to the Utilities Manager and provides planning and support to OHSU projects (capital and operational) to ensure impact from electrical interruption is limited and effectively communicated to internal OHSU stakeholders and external Authorities Having Jurisdiction.

 

This position assists in overall operations of the OHSU electrical systems program. This position is expected to work independently on the management and development of this program and advise Utilities Management on the ongoing health of this critical system.

 

This position is also responsible for:

  • Development and maintenance of OHSU electrical panel schedules, one lines, floor plans and other electrical infrastructure records and OHSU arc-flash study records.
  • Development, maintenance, and oversight of OHSU electrical shutdown approval process (similar to PECO) including performing risk assessment for technicians.
  • Interactions with vendors, including general contractors, trade contractors, architects, and consulting engineers to provide oversight for the design and installation of OHSU electrical infrastructure.

Coordination with OHSU users (occupants) and other facilities staff to ensure limited impact from electrical shutdown and support with temporary design solutions to ensure 100% uptime of critical equipment.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with progressive leadership experience of 5 years duration in applicable field
  • OR Completion of a recognized apprenticeship in electrical trades, boiler making, or pipe fitting trades with progressive leadership experience of 7 years duration;
  • OR 10 years’ experience in combination of educational, trades and leadership to coordinate a large and complex utilities distribution network
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing new systems and programs.
  • Proficiency with SmartSheets and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Proficiency with advanced reporting tools such as Tableau. 
  • Completion of an electrical trade apprenticeship program.
  • General Journeyman Electrician
