Department Overview

This position is responsible for providing system support for the development, maintenance and enhancements for all enterprise research systems that are within the span of responsibility for the Research Applications Team. This position will provide support with: technical design and strategy; system analysis; requirement review; developing prioritized enhancements; creating test data and test plans to ensure that new and revised systems meet the customers’ needs; application troubleshooting; system support and administration; planned vendor upgrades. This position will work closely with other System Application Analysts, technical business analysts and project managers, as well as, system users to execute a project or development cycle while working to understand business processes and facilitate ongoing communication and support.

Function/Duties of Position

Design, develop, document, and administer research administration systems.
  • Adhere and support the Software Development Lifecycle, which includes: planning, process analysis, technical design, development, customization, configuration, testing, training, implementation, and support.
  • Analyze applications and systems to identify opportunities for simplification and/or enhancement.
  • Prepare technical documentation based on deliverables.
  • Adhere to ITG technical standards and processes
  • Design and build system interfaces, customizations, inputs/user interfaces, workflow, and output files/graphs/reports.
  • Evaluate system upgrades and new releases.
Support Business Processes:
  • Review and analyze assigned department’s business processes and how each application supports these processes to help drive recommendations for system improvements or support.
 
System Support/Maintenance:
  • Provide ongoing technical support to existing research systems, and assure they are functioning correctly. Work with user project managers and business analysts to help troubleshoot problems.
  • Conduct preliminary functional and performance tests.  Document preliminary testing results and communicate these results.
  • Assist in coordinating the efficient sharing of information between research systems. 
  • Assist in the development of systems to support research.
This position is currently 100% telework/remote and may include remote work long-term. Candidate must be able to work from home full-time initially.

Required Qualifications

Education/Experience:
Master’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and two years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and four years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR
Associate’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and five years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR
Six years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience where one year of experience will be substituted for an Associate’s degree and two years of experience will be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree

  • Thorough understanding of data models and database design concepts. -Knowledge of development life cycle, testing and production environment procedures and overall systems applications development and maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience:
  • Experience designing and developing applications, databases, and interfaces using the following technologies:
    •     .NET
    •     Oracle
    •     JavaScript
    •     PHP
    •     T-SQL & PL/SQL
    •     HTML & XML
    •     CSS
    •     Git
    •     Windows Server Administration
    •      Node.js
  • Experience writing technical design documentation and test cases.
  • Experience designing user-friendly web forms (UX / UI).
  • Experience integrating multiple data sources, including legacy and external sources.
  • Performing software upgrades for enterprise systems.
