This position is for a Senior Research Associate in the Knight Cardiovascular Institute, supporting research focused on vascular cell biology and physiology. Applicant must have extensive previous research laboratory experience that includes studies involving rodent models. Applicant will provide essential cell culture support services including isolation and culture of the following cardiac cells: endothelial cells, pericytes, cardiomyocytes, fibroblasts, and vascular smooth muscle cells. Isolation and preparation of brain pericytes is also required. These cells will be subjected to experiments where calcium mobilization will be measured using FLIPR. Other technical expertise required will include western blotting, ELISA, 2-photon imaging, immunohistochemistry, and quantitative PCR. The applicant must have experience with rodent Langendorf heart preparations as well as experience in the isolation and physiological evaluation of rodent blood vessels. Applicant must be willing to learn new imaging techniques such as computed optical tomography and laser Doppler scanning. This position necessitates an ability to be highly organized, adaptable, and detail oriented. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with other scientific software is necessary. They will provide input in project design and planning and will be essential in the authorship processes for publication submissions. They will play pivotal role in data acquisition and analysis. They will also play an essential role in teaching and training and will present at conferences.
