Function/Duties of Position

The Senior Research Assistant (SRA) at Oregon Health & Science University is responsible for designing and performing experimental protocols that generate publication quality data.  

 

Duties Include:

  • Conducting and analyzing scientific research and preparation of written reports.
  • Maintenance of lab equipment and facilities, training of staff and interns regarding protocols and procedures.
  • Training new staff and interns on protocols and procedures.

This position offers future opportunities for scientific collaboration, primary research, and manuscript authorship.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (4 yr) with major courses in field of research AND 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time in a fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential, as are analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while being collaborative in resolving problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience and skills related to immunohistochemistry and confocal microscopy, and a background in animal research work and/or immunology are preferred.
  • Expertise with PCR and animal handling are also desired.
  • Highly motivated individuals with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • An interest working in a collaborative team environment, and who utilize innovative problem-solving to achieve scientific objectives are encouraged to apply.
