Function/Duties of Position

The Barklis lab within the department of Molecular Microbiology & Immunology is seeking a Research Assistant 2. The research involves biochemical, molecular genetics, and biophysical analysis of virus or cancer gene structure and function. Duties may include cell culture, recombinant DNA, protein characterization, biochemical, biophysical, and electron microscopy (EM) image analysis techniques; and a knowledge of how to analyze data so obtained.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's in relevant field; OR
  • Associate’s AND 3 years of relevant experience; OR 
  • 4 years of relevant experience; OR
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Lab experience and a degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or biophysics is preferred, but applicants with degrees in biology, chemistry, or physics are invited to apply.
  • Research lab experience in an academic setting is preferred.

Job related knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • A strong math, chemistry, biochemistry, and biophysics skill set is preferred.
