At March Wellness & Fitness Center we address the many dimensions of wellness – physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, financial, social and creative – that when combined make each of us unique. At march, members and health practitioners work together to develop a wellness program that draws on a variety of approaches, traditional and novel, to meet an individual's health needs.

Function/Duties of Position

As a Certified Personal Trainer, you will provide a safe, enriching environment while building meaningful relationships with wellness center members. Provide testing and assessment using a variety of protocols. Designs, prescribes, and implements personalized fitness programs, and instructs members on proper exercise.

 

Typical duties and responsibilities will consist of:

  • Providing personal training service by developing exercise prescriptions and programs for members on a one-on-one basis. Prescribes flexibility, cardiovascular, and strength training exercises to assist members in goal achievement. Maintains member information and tracking. Builds a repeat clientele and recruits new clientele.
  • Take heart rates and blood pressures as needed. Evaluates, corrects, and instructs members on proper exercise techniques. Proactively provides appropriate direction to members performing dangerous or harmful exercises. Maintains a safe and clean environment for members.
  • Performs health appraisals using approved protocols. Provides facility orientations.
  • Responds to all emergencies.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related health & wellness field required;
  • Experience providing strength training, cardiovascular, and flexibility training principles and techniques as well as experience in evaluating medications, contraindications, and risk factors;
  • Hold and maintain a NCCA accredited personal training certification, such as American Council on Exercise (ACE), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM); BLS Heart Code or CPR/AED Certification required.
  • BLS HeartCode and First Aid certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in exercise science or related field.
  • 2 years’ experience in the fitness industry.
  • Strong customer service skills, leadership abilities, and well organized.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with members and staff in a courteous, friendly and professional manner. 
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, be flexible and meet deadlines. 
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.

Salary Range: $35.46 - $48.68 per hour

This position requires a high level of physical activity, including standing for extended periods of time, demonstrating equipment use, and spotting. Ability to lift a minimum of 80 pounds essential.
