Department Overview

OHSU Family Medicine is part of OHSU School of Medicine. OHSU Family Medicine is focused on family health. We are a Federally Qualified Health Center, also known as a Community Health Center. We provide preventive, primary and specialty care for you, your children, your spouse, your parents and your grandparents. We provide all that family medicine has to offer - from maternity care through geriatrics. Our clinics are home to more than 120,000 patients every year, but despite the large number, our physicians, nurses and other clinic staff know their patients - and their families - by name. OHSU Family Medicine strongly supports the comprehensive scope to provide the highest level of care for our community. The clinical work includes but is not limited to all ages of life including newborn to end of life, taking care of those are pregnant, and supporting patients with substance use disorder including medication-assisted treatment and gender affirming care. The individual holding this position will report to the Chair of the Family Medicine Department for their overall and academic work, but will report to the Medical Director of the Family Health Center for clinical work.

Function/Duties of Position

  • The faculty member will be expected to have a strong commitment to developing the practice into a vibrant clinical and academic operation, which is successful from both a professional and business point of view.
  • The PA or NP faculty member will be assigned a MD/DO supervisor in the practice, whom they will meet regularly to work collaboratively both on professional growth and faculty development. If the faculty member is a PA-C, supervision will be provided by an MD/DO supervisor as per OMB requirements.
  • The faculty member will be involved eight (based on 1.0 FTE may be less based on FTE hired into), half days with direct patient care, and the supervision of students and other university learners at the OHSU Family Medicine clinics, which will Immediate Care practice. A portion of a work day is provided for administration and scholarly activities. The expected work week for this position will be flexible with rotating to different Family Medicine clinics, and flexible with rotating Saturdays and some of the weekday hours would be in the evening.
  • The faculty member may have of a combination of direct patient care with embedded supervision of other learners at any of the OHSU Family Medicine Richmond Clinic. Preference will be given to individuals with greater weekend and evening availability in the clinics.
  • The faculty member will be available for weekend and holiday coverage for patient care.
  • The faculty member will be expected to have a strong commitment to developing the family medicine practice into a vibrant, successful clinical and academic operation.
  • The faculty member will have the opportunity to participate in continuing education, professional and faculty development, and scholarship as directed by the Department of Family Medicine.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse & Nurse Practitioner license for the state of Oregon, State of Oregon Nurse Practitioner Prescriptive Privileges, and DEA certification.
  • Current Physician Assistant license for the state of Oregon, Prescriptive privileges, and DEA certification.
  • At least one year of experience in an Urgent Care or Immediate Care Setting.
