Department Overview

The Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) provides diagnosis and treatment of stomach, small intestinal, colonic, esophageal, gallbladder, liver and pancreatic conditions.  GI faculty and clinical fellows also conduct research and education in these same areas.

Function/Duties of Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provide outpatient and inpatient medical management to patients with gastroenterology needs. Patient care activities occur in an ambulatory clinic or inpatient hospital. Daily duties include:

  • providing excellent patient care and consultative service in gastroenterology to address needs of the patient and requesting team, detailed documentation of visits, communicating findings with referring physicians.
  • Facilitate and coordinate services and referrals needed for effective management of patient needs, including patient education, diagnostic and screening procedures, and subspecialty evaluation.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications for Physician Assistant

  • Completion of a Physician Assistant degree from an accredited program.
  • Board certification from the NCCPA.
  • Current unrestricted PA license from the Oregon Medical Board.

OR

 

Required Qualifications for Nurse Practitioner:

  • Completion of a Master Degree in Nursing.
  • ANCC Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the specific area of specialization.
  • Current registration with the Oregon State Board of Nursing as a licensed Nurse Practitioner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidates with prior GI experience, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills are encouraged to apply. Those without prior GI experience but are enthusiastic and diligent learners will be trained in GI pathology and management.
