Function/Duties of Position

As a member of the Department of Neurology, this Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will report to the Section Head for Sleep Medicine.

 

Responsibilities will include: 

100% Clinical – work as a clinician within Neurology Department in the Sleep Medicine Clinic; expected to conduct 8, 4-hour clinic sessions/week.  

 

  • Evaluate and treat patients with sleep disorders, primarily obstructive sleep apnea as well as other conditions such as insomnia, hypersomnia disorders, and restless leg syndrome.
  • Recommend adjustments of CPAP and other PAP (positive airway pressure) devices to patients.
  • Provide support/suggestions to assist patients with therapy compliance.
  • Help create and develop a stimulator implant program, as well as provide post-implantation follow-up care
  • Work jointly as a team with our MDs, APPs, technologist, and support staff.
  • Educate patients and empower them to participate in their treatment plans.
  • Attend department and section meetings as recommended by the Medical Director.

 

As a teaching facility, the APP is expected to teach medical students and residents in the clinical setting as well as through assigned lectures to be given during the course of the year, per supervisor approval.  Participate in the department needs in area of expertise, attend meetings, serve on committees as directed. 

Required Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner:

  • Current and active Nurse Practitioner license for the Oregon Board of Nursing
  • Experience in Sleep Medicine

Physician Assistant:

  • Current and active Physician Assistant license for State of Oregon
  • Experience in Sleep Medicine
  • Current national certification

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

*  1-2 years of Sleep Medicine experience

*  Certification or interest in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTI)- optional
