Department Overview

The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of clinical service, teaching, outreach and public service. The duties of this position include:

 

The physician/surgeon is expected to actively participate in patient care and engagement for growth and outreach to further the development of their community practice, and the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. This position will be located at Hillsboro Medical Center. This position will actively participate in all aspects of the clinical care of patients as outlined by the Chair of the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation.

 

This position reports to (supervisor): The Orthopaedic Department Chair

Function/Duties of Position

As a member of the OHSU Department of Orthopaedics, and OHSU Hillsboro Medical Center (HMC) Orthopedics, you will report to the OHSU Department Chair of Orthopaedics and will be responsible for duties in the areas outlined below.

  • Clinical: The Department Chair will work with you to develop your clinical and operative schedule. Your duties will include inpatient, outpatient and surgical service activities for Primarily Total Joint orthopedic surgical services at OHSU Hillsboro Medical Center. This would be joining one other busy Total Joint surgeon at HMC.
  • Call: This position will be expected to take call at the Hillsboro Medical Center hospital, as assigned, with other orthopedic providers on nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Education: OHSU Health Hillsboro Medical Center is a teaching facility, and you may have the opportunity to teach medical students and residents in the clinical setting as well as through assigned lectures to be given during the course of the year.
  • Research: There are resources available for clinical research including participating in Departmental Clinical Trials. Those interested in doing research may be eligible to apply for departmental research assistance and non-clinical time through the Director of Research.

Required Qualifications

  • M.D. or equivalent degree/training; completion of an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency; completion of an orthopaedic total joints fellowship.

    • Must be Board Certified or reach Board Certification approval within one year of hire.
