Department Overview

The Division Head/Medical Director is seeking a primary care physician (Internal Medicine or Family Medicine) at the Assistant or Associate Professor level who provides primary care and who is responsible for overseeing the clinical, research, and academic missions with the Division of Primary Care at OHSU's Center for Women's Health.

Function/Duties of Position

  • Clinical 
    • Provides an outstanding level of clinical performance. The expectation is that clinical performance be delivered in a manner that is compliant with appropriate regulations and guidelines (the American Board of Internal or Family Medicine, TJC, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, and all other state, federal, and institutional regulatory guidelines).
    •  
    • Work with team to develop, implement, and evaluate health care service and quality improvement policies, plans, goals and objectives appropriate for a patient centered medical home. Create and achieve standards in medical excellence, encourage informal and formal continuing education, develop Quality Improvement initiatives, promote evidence-based practice and engage all providers in practice management activities. Monitor provider conformance to health care policies.
  • Education 
    • May teach trainees and support staff. Teaching is done through the course of performing his/her own job by modeling best practices, mentoring trainees, guiding learning through delegating graduated and focused levels of responsibility. Assistant and Associate Professors must have a demonstrated competence in teaching and are knowledgeable about relevant guidelines from all applicable regulating bodies (e.g. ACGME competencies for clinical faculty)
  • Other duties
    • Opportunities for scholarly research activity directed toward improved understanding of the causes, detection, and treatment of diseases or improving the educational foundation within primary care.  May engage in public service through consultative activities with OHSU and non-University groups as approved by the CWH Co-Directors.  May also participate in additional departmental or hospital administration as approved by the CWH Co-Directors.  

Required Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O.
  • Demonstrated competence in research, teaching, patient care or administration or combinations of these activities

  • A potential for academic accomplishment

  • Board certification or eligibility for specialty board certification, in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
