Department Overview

The OHSU Hillsboro Internal Medicine Residency program is seeking one Chief Resident to support resident education, curriculum design, administration of the program and mentorship. This position includes 0.5 FTE of clinical duties. This individual must serve as a role model of the program. Interested candidates are asked to support the objectives of the program:

Function/Duties of Position

Service

  • Attendance at the Academic Alliance for Internal Medicine’s Spring Chief Resident meeting
  • Advising and supporting efforts to create resident schedules with the program coordinator
  • Liaison to the resident council to support strategies and plans of the resident council committee
  • Adherence to ACGME responsibilities including:
    • Participation in the annual program review
    • Membership on the program evaluation committee (PEC)
    • Support resident well-being
    • Significant participation in recruitment and selection in an effort to promote diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Organization of social activities related to the program
  • Serve as liaison to the program leadership, which includes the associate program directors and the program director
  • Assist in coordination of recruitment activities
  • Participation in residency interviews

Teaching, Mentorship and Curriculum

  • Coordination of learning activities, including workshops, didactics and board preparation
  • Consultation regarding the potential for new rotation opportunities
  • Where appropriate, coaching and advising residents, including assistance with resident remediation plans
  • Direct teaching of residents on clinical rotations, which includes precepting in continuity clinic and attending on the inpatient teaching service
  • Development of and teaching of at least two didactics per year (e.g., Practice-based Learning and Improvement, PBLI)
  • Facilitation of resident noon reports
  • Coordinate with faculty lead for planning of curriculum and speakers for noon conference. Act as a role model for attendance.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of ACGME-accredited 3-year Internal Medicine residency
  • MD/DO degree (or equivalent)
  • Good standing in residency program
