Department Overview

The Office of Learning & Writing Support provides peer-led individual help and group work with graduate-level nursing students on any aspect of nursing academic content in the DNP core courses (such as Pathophysiology and Pharmacology coursework), writing, and research. Graduate Teaching Assistants in the Office of Learning & Writing Support offer supplemental support for students on course topics and concepts or provide detailed writing feedback and writing process support for graduate writing projects.

Function/Duties of Position

ADMINISTRATIVE: Under direct supervision, primarily provides general administrative support for a project, team, or work unit.  Similar to an Office Clerk or Specialist.  May also include some basic data entry and report generation.  

 

Other: Assist faculty and staff in administrative office tasks. One on one or small group tutoring for specific classes

Required Qualifications

Education: Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in an OHSU Graduate Program (minimum 4.5 credit hours)

 

Experience:

  • Experience with course content
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must read, speak and understand the English language
  • Attention to detail a must
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of course
  • Demonstrated academic excellence in courses they will be tutoring
  • Must be approved by faculty of course

Compliance:

  • Code of conduct
  • Respect in the workplace
  • Applicable policies, procedures and agreements related to position, department or OHSU as a whole

Preferred Qualifications

Standard office, classroom, and conference room conditions. Meeting with students and instructors.
