This position is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of assigned OP Coding specialists in multiple service locations. Acts as a supervisory support which includes OHSU and all of OHSU system partners both current and future.
Responsible for understanding and ensuring that all outpatient coding meets compliance standards with the Official ICD Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, CMS guidelines, and AMA guidelines for CPT coding.
Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising OP Coding Specialists, covering multi-specialty departments such as OP Clinics, OP Infusion clinics, and OP Therapy by establishing daily workload priorities, supporting all coding workflows, and monitoring coding volumes in assigned areas to support business needs and operations metrics.
Evaluate staff performance daily, complete annual performance appraisals, and provide feedback to employees.
Resolves personnel issues, concerns, and problems by remaining open and engaged with direct reports. Creating a team approach to success. Review workload, schedules, and staffing to ensure that daily responsibilities are completed.
Organize regular occurring team meetings focusing on education and problem-solving.
Work daily with the at-large HB Coding Leadership Team to collaborate and ensure coverage for all coding service areas.
Acts as the direct supervisor to medical coding personnel assigned to OHSU/HMC service areas and acts as supervisory operational support for OHSU Health system partners.
Responsible for ensuring continuing education and training of the supervised coding specialists.
Conducts regular quality assurance audits
Provides coding coverage on an as needed basis to cover unexpected absences and to prevent or resolve coding backlogs.
If requested to do so by the Coding Manager, reviews resources for coding area, attends vendor demonstrations and recommends for purchase items such as software, equipment, and educational materials.

Salary Range: $61,318.40 - $97,968.00 per year
