The Stereotactic Navigation Specialist will assist with all aspects of the stereotactic navigation program for South OR and DCH OR. The tech will: carry out patient preparation for the necessary preoperative imaging; communicate any changing patient circumstances; transfer and prepare the imaging datasets on the various stereotactic workstations; and assist resident surgeons in registering the datasets intra-operatively to assure accurate surgical navigation. This will often include supervising and assisting with multiple simultaneous stereotactic surgeries.

 

The stereotactic specialist will keep instruments and equipment in working order. The stereotactic specialist will work directly with the stereotactic lead for all assignments.

Function/Duties of Position

  • Room set up (positioning of bed, partner with surgical team and RN to plan patient positioning) and testing of all Stereotactic Equipment (Stealth, O-arm, Rosa, Brainlab, Autoguide Robot)
  • Making sure equipment is maintained: set-up for day, cleaned and stored at end of day
  • Prior to Surgery: verify imaging of patients; ensure equipment set to correct procedure; verify instrumentation
  • Supervise / assist resident surgeons and specially trained nurses in registering the image datasets intra-operatively to assure accurate surgical navigation.

Required Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in a surgical technician role, medical technology role or neurodiagnostic field.
  • Has shown an ability and interest in mastering technical details
  • Compliance with Code of Conduct, Respect in the workplace and Applicable policies, procedures and agreements related to position, department or OHSU as a whole

  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

  • An Associate's Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in a health or science related field.
  • One year experience in cases that support stereotactic navigation.

Additional Details

Pay Range: $34.79 - $47.74 per hour

  • Work schedule will need to align with department needs and will required to be flexibile to changing department needs. Evening hours will be required. Evening call rotation. 1-2 weekend shifts per month
  • Requires working in various hospital settings, including the OR environment. May require standing for several consequtive hours and assisting in patient position and equipment set-up in the Operating Room suite. The incumbent must be able to perform the essential duties with or without reasonable accomodation.
